This magnificent building in Sydney Road is finally being restored after years of neglect. This is the third church on the site with the original dating from 1839 when the ‘Father of Brunswick’ Thomas Wilkinson donated the land. The current building dates from 1872 and was designed by the noted architect Percy Oakden. It ceased operating as a church some time after the formation of the Uniting Church in 1877. From 1972-2022 the adjoining Sunday School building was leased by the Sydney Road Community School. The Uniting Church sold the site to a partner in Nelson Alexander real estate in the early 2000s and they have now renovated the Sunday School as theif offices and commenced restoration of the church. The future use of the building has not been announced.
